Founder's Day Minnesota is an annual celebration honoring the founding of Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon Family Groups. This special event brings together members from across the Upper Midwest to commemorate the rich history and continued growth of our recovery communities.
For over 30 years, Founder's Day Minnesota has been the largest AA and Al-Anon conference in the state, featuring inspiring speakers, fellowship opportunities, and educational workshops. The event takes place annually in Bloomington, Minnesota, creating a welcoming space for newcomers and long-time members alike.
In 2026, we're celebrating a milestone year - 86 years of AA in the Upper Midwest. Join us for this historic celebration of recovery, service, and fellowship.

In keeping with our 7th Tradition, these suites are fully self-supported through the generous contributions made by groups and members within A.A. The Steering Committee keeps a prudent reserve of funds rolled over from the current event reported here to pay for the next event’s suite rent and other necessary minor expenses in advance to ensure the suite is secured for that next event.
The Steering Committee would like to extend our gratitude for the energy, love and financial support received from these groups that made our suite an amazing experience!

Twin Cities LGBTQIA+ Friends Steering Committee
As a Steering Committee, we commit to:
Gopher State AA Roundup
This event is typically held over the Memorial Day weekend Friday - Sunday at the Bloomington DoubleTree hotel. It is one of the largest AA roundups in the Midwest and is an occasion to share the fellowship and to carry the message of AA; with Al-Anon and Alateen participation. They have had an LGBTQIA+ suite for many years and intend to continue that tradition of providing our community a space within the event.
Founder's Day Minnesota
This event is typically held over the Thanksgiving Day weekend - Saturday also at the Bloomington DoubleTree hotel. It is a one-day event to connect with fellow AA members and honor those with one year of sobriety and celebrate when AA came to Minnesota. And as with Gopher State, they have had an LGBTQIA+ suite for many years and intend to continue that tradition of providing our community a space within the event.
